Imphal: At least one person was killed and two others injured when suspected Kuki militants fired at Singda Dam under Kadangband part II in Imphal West district on Monday.
Sources said, the victim, identified as Saikhom Shubol, 27, son of S Roket, of Uripok Achom Leikai, Imphal West, was found near a bunker of Kuki militants which lies near Singda Dam early in the morning.
The exact time of the incident could not be verified as the shootout between the Kuki militants and Meitei volunteers has been going on since Sunday evening.
During the violent incident two youths, Kongthoujam Naobi from Maklang in West District and one from Kadangbam were seriously injured.
Meanwhile, hundreds of angry villagers and women stretching from Uripok to Pheiyeng blocked the state highways in protest against the killing at Kadangband.
