Imphal: After six days, Manipur newspapers and electronic media will resume normal work from Friday.  The decision in this regard was taken after a joint meeting of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and Editors’ Guild Manipur (EGM) at Manipur Press Club here Thursday.

“The joint meeting of All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and Editors’ Guild Manipur (EGM) while condemning the group involved in the bomb attack on a media house, resolved to start publication from Friday,” said a statement.

Journalists in the state under the leadership of AMWJU and EGM had given a 48-hour time asking the group responsible for the bomb attack on ‘Poknapham’ daily and ‘People’s Chronicle’ to clarify why they did so. A press note signed by the Presidents of AMWJU and EGM stated that since no group has owned up to the attack, it shows the journalists and media houses have committed no wrong.

The press note further asserted that the meeting entrusted the AMWJU and EGM to resolve the current problems failing which a general body will take appropriate action
