Imphal: A man was apprehended by CRPF personnel for allegedly trying to rob a bank here on Monday.
Police said the man identified as Thongam Rinku Singh, 4o, of Kwakeithel Soibam Leikai, entered the Bank of Baroda branch at Sangaiporou and took out a 9mm pistol and a knife and demanded Rs 5 lakh from the bank manager. He forcibly took money from the counter and rushed out.
CRPF personnel who were on duty outside the bank stopped him when they suspected his behaviour. He was handed over to the police and investigations have been taken up. With agency inputs
