Imphal: A 22-year-old youth who was kidnapped on Friday was rescued here on Saturday by Manipur Police.
Imphal West SP Ksh Shivkanta said the 22 year old lone son of Laishram Shyamchand Singh of Ngaikhong Siphai, Bishnupur District was kidnapped from DM College of Science boys hostel.
Shyamchand received a phone call from his son’s contact number, instructing him and his wife to bring Rs 15 lakhs for the safe release of his son, threatening that failure to comply would result in his son being returned as a deceased body.
Imphal West District Police carried out a raid at Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai and the missing person was discovered inside a house belonging to one Asem Chaoba alongside four kidnappers, with an additional four kidnappers located in two vehicles nearby.
The SP said employing necessary force, the police team successfully handled the situation, ensuring the safe rescue of the victim. Furthermore, all eight kidnappers were apprehended during the operation.
Arms and ammunition and two cars used by the kidnappers were seized.
