Manipur govt fixes prices of essential commodities

The retail rates of the items in respect of Churachandpur and Pherzwal districts will be Re 1/- above the rates indicated.

Imphal: Manipur government has ordered all shops in the state to exhibit the prices of 17 essential items in front of their shops from Sunday onwards to keep a check on the price hikes.

The government has announced the prices of 17 essential items under Section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

Various students’ organizations and people had voiced their opposition to the sudden hike in prices of essential commodities specially rice, pulses, sugar, potato etc. after the government announced night curfew and opening of shops on rotation bases in view of the rise in Covid cases.

The 17 items and their prices are: Matar (Mangal) – Rs 7500 (100 kg-wholesale rate) and Rs 75 (retail); Matar dal (Kangtak) – Rs 7500 (100 kgs-wholesale) and Rs 80 (retail); Potato – Rs 2000 (100 kgs-(wholesale) and Rs 30 (retail); Onion – Rs 2800 (100 kgs-wholesale) and Rs 35 (retail); Salt – Rs 620 (50 kgs-wholesale) and MRF (retail); Sugar – Rs 4350 (100 kgs-wholesale) and Rs 47 (retail); Masur dal (Mussorie) – Rs 10,000 (S) – (100 kgs-wholesale) and Rs 110 (retail), Rs 9000 (M) – (100 kgs-wholesale) and Rs 100, Rs 8000 (B) – (100 kgs-wholesale) and Rs 90 (retail); Atta – Rs 1300 (45kgs-wholesale) and Rs 35 (retail); Maida – Rs 1350 (45kgs-wholesale) and Rs 36 (retail); Master Oil Tagore Tin – Rs 2500 (15litres-wholesale) and Rs 2500 15L (retail); Palm Oil 15L – Rs 2250 (15L-wholesale) and Rs 2250 (15L-Retail); Arhar Dal (Mairongbi) – Rs 12000(B) – (100 kgs-wholesale) and Rs 110 (retail) and Rs 9500 (S) – (100 kgs-wholesale) and Rs 100 (retail); Mung Dal – Rs 12000 (100kgs-wholesale) and Rs 130 (retail); Refined Oil –Rs 2400 (15L-wholesale) and Rs 2400 (15L-retail); Kala Dal (Sagol Hawai) – Rs 12500 (Big-Indor) – (100 kgs-wholesale) and Rs 130 (retail) and Small (Kanpur) – Rs 11000 (100kgs-wholesale) and Rs 115 (retail); Rice Permal (Andhra variety) – Rs 4300 (100kgs-wholesale) and Rs 47 (retail) and UP Rice – Rs 4100 (100 kgs-wholesale) and Rs 44 (retail).

The retail rates of the items in respect of Churachandpur and Pherzwal districts will be Re 1/- above the rates indicated.

The price is fixed based on the recommendation of the Price Fixation Committee based on the prices submitted by the representatives of the Imphal Bazar Wholesalers during the meeting held on Saturday.
