Manipur Governor, CM greet people of Manipur on Lui-ngai-Ni

The Chief Minister wished the festival will bring happiness and prosperity and also spread the message of unity peace and brotherhood amongst all the communities of the state.

Imphal: Governor of Manipur La Ganesan and Chief Minister N Biren Singh greeted the people of the state, especially the Naga community on the joyous occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni.

In his message, the Governor said that Lui-Ngai-Ni is a composite festival of all the Nagas of Manipur celebrated every year on February 15 for a bountiful and bumper harvest. Blessings of the almighty are sought on this occasion.

“This festival has also come to be recognized as a Tourist Festival, occupying a unique position not only among Nagas but also among other communities. The festival brings together different communities towards the goals of peace, harmony and humanism, irrespective of caste or religion”, the message added.

He expressed his confidence that the festival will be celebrated  in its true spirit and that all will in the festivities in a spirit of oneness and pray for peace and prosperity of the state of Manipur and its people.

In his message on this joyous occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni “particularly the Naga brethren”, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said, “Lui-ngai-Ni, the seed sowing festival celebrated during the spring season, is one of the  biggest festivals of the Nagas. During the festival the blessings of the Almighty is sought for a bountiful harvest on the seeds sown.”

The festival which his celebrated with splendid display of the rich cultural heritage of the Nagas also serve as crucial bond of unity amongst different communities, Biren Singh said in his message.
