Manipur: GOC Red Shield Division interacts with village heads at Leimakhong

Imphal: In a significant effort to strengthen community relations and promote local development, the Red Shield Division organized a meeting with 22 village chiefs from the Leimakhong region of Manipur. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Red Shield Division interacted with the village chiefs, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to regional development through various initiatives.

The session provided an overview of the ongoing Operation Sadbhavana projects, which continue to foster harmony and well-being in the villages. New initiatives focused on empowering women and youth were discussed, aiming to promote skill development and economic opportunities.

The village chiefs were briefed on several development projects undertaken, notably the establishment of bakery, cosmetic, and bead jewelry units based on a self-sustaining model. Plans for constructing a technology park and offering career counseling for children were also discussed.

Additionally, efforts to secure a reliable and clean water supply, a dedicated bus service for school-going children, and the provision of eco-friendly e-rickshaws were announced at the meeting.

With the aim of promoting physical fitness and nurturing local sports talent, plans for developing sports-related infrastructure were also discussed. The village chiefs expressed deep gratitude for the Army’s steadfast support, acknowledging the transformative impact of these projects.

The GOC emphasized the importance of working closely with local leadership to achieve sustainable progress, stating, “Our commitment is to collaborate with the village chiefs to foster improvements that benefit everyone.”

This interaction marks a significant milestone in the Army’s ongoing efforts to build resilient and thriving communities in Manipur.
