Imphal: Fishery Minister S. Rajen Singh has launched Nga Keithel App at INA Hall Moirang, Monday.
Speaking at the occasion as Chief Guest, Minister Rajen said that the newly launched App will help the fish farmers of the state to grow. The central government has also launched fishery schemes and also benefited the farmers.
Loktak Livelihood Mission has been introduced to help the fish farmers, particularly in Bishnupur district. The expenditure to purchase fish from outside has been reduced. Different schemes such as biofloc, PPP model of government fish farms, DBT to the farmers, loan to the cooperative societies, subsidy scheme etc. have been introduced. Entrepreneurs have also been encouraged by presenting awards and incentives, he added.
Speaking as president during the occasion MLA, Moirang A/C P. Saratchandra Singh said that the people of Moirang and surrounding areas have connected to Loktak lake. There is an inseparable relationship between this lake and the people of this region. He also suggested that the launching of such apps will play a connectivity role amongst the fish farmers of the state.
Director Fishery H. Balkrishna also shared the dais as guest of honour.
