Imphal: Director General of Police, Manipur, Rajiv Singh called on the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan Thursday evening and apprised her of the prevailing security situation in the state.
The DGP submitted a detailed report on the recent incidents and briefed the Governor about his visit to the Churachandpur district post the February 15 incidents.
Cases of extortion from the general public and transporter associations were also discussed and the Governor asked the DGP to take stringent action against those involved in the act and to maintain free and safe passage of vehicles in the Highways.
The DGP assured the Governor that the Manipur Police has been working dedicatedly for the safety and security of the people of Manipur.
Taking serious note of the recent incidents, Governor said, it is high time that people should realize that there are few self-styled organisations both in hill and valley districts that are misleading the local populace by creating false propaganda from time to time and urged the people to understand the pivotal role played by Manipur Police in safeguarding the lives and properties of the people.
The Governor appealed to the people to co-operate with the Police in maintaining law and order in the State.
