Imphal: District Magistrate, Imphal West, has imposed Section 144 of CrPC in the whole of the New Temporary Market, Thangal bazar following apprehension that women vendors of the market might launch an agitation as a resistance to the order of the Municipal Commissioner, Imphal Municipal Corporation restricting street vendors in the temporary market only between 6.00 am to 12′.00 noon.
Under this order assembly of five or more persons which is likely turn unlawful in the said area, or the carrying of sticks, stones, firearms and/or weapons or any other description or objects which can be used as offensive weapons is prohibited as an immediate preventive measure to prevent a breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquility and grave danger to human lives and properties.
This order shall not apply to the agencies of the Government involved in the enforcement of law and order and the maintenance of essential services.
Persons desirous of taking out rallies or processions for socio-political, customary, religious objectives or for entertainment, involving the assembly of 5 or more persons in the scheduled area shall not take out processions or rallies without permission of the District Magistrate, Imphal West.
