Imphal: Manipur is experiencing a rapid increase in the number of Covid cases which has compelled the government to close down all schools.
Commissioner Education Gyan Prakash said the schools will remain from Wednesday till July 24.
The positivity rate has increased to 15.6 which was alarming as 59 new cases were detected on Tuesday. The number of active cases was 216. Health officials said there were zero cases for a long period of time but new cases were detected early this month and the number was increasing steadily. Some school-going children also tested positive for Covid which led to the closure of some schools before the announcement by the government.
