Imphal: The ongoing strike of college teachers over their salary as per the 7th UGC Commission under the leadership of AMTCA and FEGOCTA has been called off following an agreement reached with the intervention of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
As per the agreement reached with the representatives of the two teachers’ associations in the presence of the Chief Secretary, Dr Rajesh Kumar and Commissioner (HTE), Harekrishna, among others: Pay as per the UGC 7th Commission will be notional from 1.1.2016, arrears for the period from 1.4.2019 to 31.3.2020 will be put in the CPF in July 2021, arrears for the period from 1.4.2020 to 31.4.2021 will be put in the GPF in April 2022 and that cash payment will be from 1.4.21, payable in the month of July 2021(that is, arrears for UGC salary pay for April-June 2021 will be payable in July 2021).
The agreement signed by representatives of the government and colleges teachers also stated that no teachers who had taken part in the agitation will face disciplinary action.
Writing on his personal social media platform – Facebook, the Chief Minister said, “Had a fruitful meeting with representatives of AMCTA and FEGOCTA at my office today on the long-standing demands of the college teachers for payment of salary as per 7th UGC Pay Commission.”
