Manipur CM pays last respect to the martyrs

The Chief Minister led top police and military officers in laying wreaths to the mortal remains of the martyrs of 46 Assam Rifles at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.

Imphal: Chief Minister N Biren Singh led others in paying last respect to the martyrs who were killed in an ambush at Sehkan village, Singhat Sub-Division, Churachandpur district Saturday.

The Chief Minister led top police and military officers in laying wreaths to the mortal remains of the martyrs of 46 Assam Rifles at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.

Speaking to the media persons at the sideline of the ceremony, N Biren Singh strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Assam Rifles convoy Saturday. He shared his deepest condolence and shared grief with the bereaved families. He said that the government will not tolerate and compromise such terrorist activities in the state.

The Chief Minister maintained that he has instructed the Home department and paramilitary forces to arrest and punish the perpetrators according to the rule of law. He also assured that the government would strengthen the security forces in the border areas of the State.

It may be mentioned that the Commanding Officer (CO) of 46 Assam Rifles (Khuga Battalion) Col Viplav Tripathi, his family and four Quick Reaction Team (QRT) personnel were martyred in an ambush by militants.
