Manipur CM launches new schemes, distributes Rs 330 cr to over 4 lakh beneficiaries

Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Cabinet Ministers distributed benefits under 46 schemes to over 4 lakh beneficiaries, amounting to more than ₹330 crore.

Imphal: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Thursday distributed benefits under various government schemes and launched new ones at a solemn function held at the City Convention Centre, Imphal.

The newly launched schemes include:

  • Product Catalogue
  • Special Package for Successful Start-ups for Employment of IDPs in Manipur
  • CM Yarn Scheme (including Muga Silk buyback)
  • Revised Comic Textbook
  • Sportspersons Livelihood Guarantee Scheme

During the event, the Chief Minister and Cabinet Ministers distributed benefits under 46 schemes to over 4 lakh beneficiaries, amounting to more than ₹330 crore. These benefits will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

In his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted the state’s various welfare initiatives aimed at inclusive development. These initiatives include “Go to Hills,” “Go to Village,” “Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang,” “Start-up Manipur,” and the widows pension scheme, among others, all designed to promote equal development and collective welfare.

He acknowledged the challenges posed by ongoing conflicts and recent natural calamities, which have hindered developmental activities. He assured that the government would provide all necessary assistance for the people’s welfare. Good quality CGI sheets have already been distributed to those affected by the recent hailstorm through the respective Deputy Commissioners.

In light of the current situation, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the state’s territorial integrity. He also informed that medical teams have been formed to assist inmates of relief camps. These teams, comprising doctors, nurses, and multitasking staff, visit relief camps twice a week. Currently, around 68 teams have visited about 238 camps, providing health check-ups and mental health counseling to inmates. To date, approximately 1,436 free medical check-ups have been conducted.

The benefits distributed include assistance under schemes such as:

  • CMESS for Relief Camp Inmates
  • Special Assistance of ₹1 Lakh per Family for Displaced Families in Relief Camps
  • Financial Assistance for Education of Children
  • College Students Rehabilitation Scheme
  • One-Time Special Assistance
  • Hailstorm Relief
  • Flood Relief
  • CM’s Yaipha Tengbang Scheme
  • Incentives to Artisans

The distribution of benefits also took place at various Deputy Commissioners’ Offices and State Government Departments.

The program was attended by Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, the Security Advisor to the Government of Manipur, high-ranking civil and police officials, and beneficiaries of various welfare schemes.
