Imphal: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has urged the people to join their hands together towards achieving a 100 percent vaccination rate in the State before Christmas so that they could celebrate Christmas and New Year with much zeal and enthusiasm.

This was stated by him during the flagging off function of Covid Vaccination Express for 13 districts of the State held at Khuman Lampak Thursday.

Speaking at the function, N. Biren Singh said that the COVID-19 situation is improving as there is a decline in the infection rate in the State. He appealed to the eligible persons to get vaccinated at the earliest. He reminded that during the virtual meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently, the Prime Minister was much concerned about the lagging vaccination rate in the hill districts of the State. He further mentioned that the vaccination rates in the hill districts are much lower as compared to the valley districts and the National average.

Urging the people not to believe in fake and false rumors regarding the COVID-19 vaccines, he called upon the Church leaders, Village Chiefs and CSOs of hill districts to convince the people to get vaccinated so as to protect themselves from the dreaded disease.

Stating that India has developed two indigenous COVID-19 vaccines to fight the pandemic and save crores of precious lives, the Chief Minister said that the Country had crossed 100 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the dynamic leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Modi.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister thanked CARE India team for providing such humanitarian service of providing vaccination at people’s doorsteps across the State at this juncture.

It may be mentioned that 120 vehicles and staff have been provided by CARE India for Covid Vaccination Express under their CSR initiative. The NGO will directly fund the hiring charges, staff expenses, operational expenses for the Covid Vaccination Express vehicles and staff. The Covid Vaccination Express vehicles are equipped with the necessary equipment, vaccines and medical personnel who will travel to every nook and corner of the districts to vaccinate people at their doorsteps.

The Chief Minister had flagged off the Covid Vaccination Express for Imphal East, Imphal West and Senapati Districts last month.

MP Rajya Sabha Maharaja Leisemba Sanajaoba, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar and senior officials were present during the function.
