Imphal: The security forces have apprehended approximately 370 militants belonging to different outfits operating in the state of Manipur in the last two years.
Moreover, 90 cadres of different organisations have surrendered during the same period, attributing this to the people-friendly operations and good institutional measures taken by the state government post-surrender, according to a statement by the PRO (Defence) in Kohima and Imphal on Wednesday.
Ever since the security forces and state government have intensified their efforts towards ensuring sustainable peace, many proscribed groups in Manipur are battling for survival, it claimed.
Further, recoveries of contraband items worth approximately Rs 1300 crore have given the much-needed impetus towards choking the finances of these groups, which is also inducing surrender by cadres of these groups as a second-order effect. it added.
The success of action against the terror groups and terrorists came in the aftermath of repeated synergized responses to restore normalcy in the region, the press note said.
