Man, two sons die due to asphyxia in Mahoba

Mahoba (UP): A man and his two sons died due to asphyxia while cleaning a well in Khanna area of Mahoba district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police sources said.
Police sources said that Virendra Verma (54), a resident of Mawai Khurd village, has a personal well in his field. “As the well was not being used for long the water level in it was receding. Virendra along with his two sons Devendra (25) and Chandra Prakash (21) went to clean the well,” they said.
Police sources said that first Virendra entered the well and fell unconscious due to poisonous gas.
“Seeing this, Devendra and Chandra Prakash also entered the well and they too fell unconscious.
They were taken out by the villagers and taken to the community health centre at Maudaha in Hamirpur district where doctors declared them dead,” they said.
Police sources said that Sub Divisional Magistrate Rajesh Kumar and police reached the spot and inquired about the incident. “Further action will be taken once the post mortem report is received,” they said.
