Malaysia logs 26,701 new Covid cases

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia reported 26,701 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Thursday, bringing the national total to 3,138,215, according to the health ministry.

There are 132 new imported cases, with 26,569 being local transmissions, data released on the ministry’s website showed. A further 39 deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 32,240. The ministry reported 11,744 new recoveries, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 2,888,194. Among the 217,781 active cases, 216 are being held in intensive care and 141 of those are in need of assisted breathing.

The country reported 173,669 vaccine doses administered on Thursday alone and that 80.9 percent of the population have received at least one dose, 78.8 percent are fully vaccinated and 42 percent have received boosters.
