Imphal: Major General Rajan Sharawat, Vishist Seva Medal on Monday took over the reins of Assam Rifles in Manipur as the new Inspector General Assam Rifles (South).
He relieved Major General Alok Naresh who proceeds to his next posting after successfully completing his tenure.
A highly qualified and proficient officer with vast counter insurgency experience, Major General Rajan Sharawat has previously commanded a unit in Assam and a Brigade in Jammu and Kashmir, an AR official said.
The General Officer has appealed to the people of Manipur to continue extending their love and support to the security forces. He also urged the State Government officials and members of the media for their cooperation and empathy.
The General Officer exhorted all ranks of the IGAR (S ) to continue striving for peace and prosperity in Manipur.
