Imphal: Maheshwar Thounaojam, National Secretary, Republican Party of India (A), along with Potshangbam Chand Meetei called on the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uijey on Monday and briefed her on the measures for bringing permanent peace and normalcy in Manipur.
He mentioned the measures that include implementation of the Manipur Hill Areas (Acquisition of Chieftainship) Act, 1967; Abrogation of the tripartite Suspension of Operations (SoO) Agreement between the Government of India, the Government of Manipur and Militant Groups of Kuki-Chin-Zo community signed on August 22, 2008, and extended till February 29, 2024 and implementation of NRC with 1951 as the base year. They also conveyed the problems and grievances of the Internally Displaced persons taking refuge in relief camps.
The Governor took note of their concerns and said she would look into the matter and discuss it with the concerned authority. She also urged them to submit a list of the relief camps facing problems at present.
Vice Chancellor, Bir Tikendrajit University, Prof A.K. Choudary along with Dr. Johnson Luwang, Coordinator, Directorate of Research & Extension, Bir Tikendrajit University also called on the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Monday and discussed on promoting peace and prosperity in Manipur through education.
Governor lauded their efforts and urged them to continue their services in the Education sector for the welfare and development of the state.
Maj Gen Ravroop Singh, newly appointed IGAR (South) called on the Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan this evening and briefed on the prevailing law and order situations in the state. He was accompanied by the outgoing IGAR (South), Maj Gen Rajan Sherawat, AVSM, USM. Governor appreciated the efforts taken up by Maj Gen Rajan Sherawat during his tenure in the state and extended good wishes for all his future endeavours.
