Nanded: The role of the Government of Maharashtra is to provide services to the devotees by adding tourism to various places of pilgrimage and also to give priority to job creation in those places. We are trying to achieve integrated development by giving priority to forest resources and tourism development in the area by developing Mahur Gadhi in Nanded district with that in view,” said Ashok Chavan, Minister of State for Public Works and Guardian Minister of the district, today.

He expressed confidence that the work of ropeway from the Common Facility Center near Matru Teeth at the foot of Mahur fort to all the three forts would be completed soon. An agreement has recently been reached between the state government’s public works department and Wapcos Ltd., a central government venture, for the construction of the ropeway, he informed.

“We are committed to making Mahurgad a centre of glory in the state as well as in the tourism sector of the state,” he said.

Mahur Fort, one of the leading Shakti Peethas of Maharashtra, is undergoing a transformation and soon devotees of all ages will be able to combine tourism with devotion as per their liking. Renuka Devi, Anusaya Mata and Datta Shikhar are the places of worship. At the same time, the river Panganga flows through the foothills of this mountain range and flows further into Vidarbha. For many years, the biodiversity, forest resources and wildlife in the area have been a major source of tourism, he added.

These power plants are now being developed with all the services and facilities by taking care of the biodiversity here and the Minister Chavan has recently signed the development work agreement in this regard.
