Mumbai: In a major development in Maharashtra politics, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday night resigned, ahead of tomorrow’s floor test.

The development comes after Supreme Court refused to stay the floor test in the state assembly tomorrow as ordered by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

Thackeray while addressing to cabinet meeting here late this evening thanked its alliance partners NCP and Congress for always supporting him but expressed sadness and said that his own partymen betrayed him that led to the present political crisis in Maharashtra.
