Mumbai: A 20-year-old woman was gang-raped in the Lucknow-Mumbai bound Pushpak Express between Igatpuri and Kasara railway station in neighbouring Palghar district on Friday night, police said on Saturday.
GRP police said here on Saturday that around 1900 hrs the Lucknow-Mumbai bound Pushpak to express reached Igatpuri station, where 7 to 8 people boarded it. As the train moved for Mumbai these criminals robbed at least 20 passengers and manhandled many of them, leading to some of the passengers suffering minor injuries. Thereafter, a 20-year-old woman who was travelling along with her husband was gang-raped by them. The incident occurred between Igatpuri and Kasara station.
GRP police have registered a case of robbery-cum-gang rape, and arrested four suspects and search was on for the remaining four accused persons, police added.
