Nagpur: A man reportedly killed his five family members and later committed suicide at Barsenagar, Chimnabai Peth, near Pachpawali Railway Gate in Maharashtra’s Nagpur, sources said on Monday.

The accused is identified as Alok Maturkar, a tailor by profession.

According to the sources, the incident occurred on Sunday late night when Alok killed his wife (Vijaya), sister-in-law(Manisha Bobde), mother-in-law(Laxmibai Bobde) to death and strangled his 12-year-son(Sahil) and 15-year-daughter( Pari )using pillow before hanging himself with a rope.

Sources further informed that Devedas Bobde, Alok’s father-in-law was on his guard duty. The incident came to light when Devedas returned home from night duty.

As per the primary investigation, the reason behind the killings is said to be financial crises.

Sources also said that Alok had some issues with his sister-in-law. Owing to which the duo would often engage in verbal duel.

The Maturkar family basically belongs to Amravati and had come to city just few years back in search of work, sources said.

Further probe was on, the sources added.
