LS polls: DEO Jiribam appeals for smooth and peaceful conduct of election

Jiribam: As the poll preparedness intensifies in respect of 40-Jiribam Assembly Segment of 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency, Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer, Jiribam Krisha Kumar IAS Tuesday appealed to all the electors and political parties of the district to extend cooperation for the smooth and peaceful conduct of election in the district. 

He also urged and appealed to all the voters of the district to be firm in ethical and informed voting.

He further appealed to each and every elector of the district to spare a moment and pay a visit to the nearest polling stations and use their constitutional rights and extend their contributions in the Nation building process. He also mentioned pertinently that as per the direction of Election Commission of India, Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) is no longer standalone identification documents for voting. 

Other alternatives documents such as Aadhar Card, Pan Card, Driving License, Passport, MGNREGS Job Card, Smart Health Card, Passbook with photographs issued from the Banks or Post Office, Pension documents with photographs, Official ID cards issued by either MPs or MLAs and service ID cards issued from the Government of India and PSUs may also be used for voter’s identification.

Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer, Jiribam Krisha Kumar, IAS, Tuesday appealed to all the electors and political parties of the district to extend cooperation for the smooth and peaceful conduct of election in the district.

He also highlighted making this election accessible, inclusive and participative as per the desire of the Election Commission of India. The DEO, Jiribam has already provided postal ballot facilities to the eligible categories of voters such as voters in the age group of 85 and above, PWD voters, and Divyangjan. 

For such voters, two rounds of visits have already been paid to their homes so that they can facilitate their votes. For such categories of voters, wheelchair facilities, and Booth Level Help Desk will also be provided as per the direction of ECI, he continued.

He also urged each and everyone to refrain from taking any bribe and in case anybody offers any bribe or is having knowledge about the bribe or cases of intimidation of electors may inform such cases to toll free number 1950 of the Complaint Monitoring Cell set up for receiving the complaints. 

Later, the DEO also launched an election T-shirt with the logo “Jiribam District Election Officer” at the office chamber of DC, Jiribam.

Superintendent of Police Jiribam A. Ghanasyham Sharma, IPS, ARO Jiribam, Th. Manoranjan Singh, MCS, Nodal Officer for the welfare of Polling personnel and ZEO, Jiribam, Th. Amurashi Chanu, MES, SDC (HQ) Amit Sagolsem, Jr. MCS and SDC/BO, David Laitonjam, Jr. MCS also participated in the T-Shirt launching programme.
