Imphal: Manipur Excise department destroyed liquor worth about Rs 23 lakhs on Saturday at its office premises.
B John, Commissioner of Excise said the liquor was seized earlier and had to be destroyed as there was no space to keep it. Various brands of excisable articles like IMFL, beer and illicit country liquor were destroyed using heavy machinery.
The Malkhana room was congested due to the storage of seized articles. making it inconvenient to store the newly seized items, John said. The destroyed liquor included 3011 litres of IMFL, 256 Litres of beer and 4427 Litres of DIC liquor.
