Imphal: Prominent leaders of various women bodies and civil societies of Manipur pledged to donate their bodies after demise to RIMS, Imphal.
RIMS officials said eight persons, five women and three men, all leading personalities and heads of various social organizations handed over documents to RIMS authorities on Wednesday to allow the RIMS to use their bodies after they die.
RIMS officials said the documents were handed over to Prof. A. Santa Singh, Director, RIMS, Imphal, Prof. Sanjib Singh Nepram, Superintendent, and Head of Anatomy Department Prof. RK. Ajita.
The donors included Yumlembam Ongbi Memma Leima, President, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, Nongthombam Ongbi Radhamani Leima, General Secretary, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, Haobam Ongbi Premabati Leima, Ex. VP, All Manipur Progressive Farmers Association, Haobam Ibotombi Singh, Social Activist, Lourembam Chanu Somola, Social Activist, Chungkham Romeo Singh, President, Manipur Peace and Integrity Council and Nongthombam Rupachandra, President, United People’s Front.
Memma Leima said that she is 85 years old but could not complete her wish to work for the betterment of the people of Manipur and hence decided to offer her body after demise to the institute for the benefit of mankind. Director, Prof A. Santa Singh appreciated the donors for their bold decisions and dedication.
The sacrifice is for science and humanity, he added. He said the institute will try to provide free facilities whenever needed for the donors.
