Agartala: A youth died in a landslide this morning in the Sarasima area of Belonia in South Tripura when heavy rain lashed in the district that triggered a flash flood. The several areas of Belonia town have been inundated and normal life affected badly.
According to the report, the rain started early in the morning in Belonia and its surrounding area and victim youth Narayan Bhowmik went nearby his house in an open space for a natural call. Suddenly, land slipped on him and he was injured seriously.
The family members immediately called the emergency response team of the fire service who rescued Narayan and shifted him to hospital where doctors attending declared him dead.
Meanwhile, meteorological department sources said that more than 150 mm rainfall have been recorded in three hours and such high-intensity rain triggered flash floods in the town and low lying areas. However, the meteorological forecast indicated scattered and heavy rainfall in the next two days in isolated places of Tripura.
