Aizawl: Mizoram MP C. Lalrosanga met Union Home Secretary (Border Management) Sanjeeva Kumar and Additional Home Secretary (North East) Piyush Goyal in New Delhi Wednesday and voiced deep concern over the plight of Myanmar nationals entering and seeking refuge in Mizoram recently.

C. Lalrosanga requested the Home Ministry high officials to help provide relief measures in cash as well as kind, including medical help, for the many refugees who had crossed over following the political turmoil in Myanmar since the beginning of this year.

In his meeting with the Home Secretaries, the MP also reiterated the urgency of resolving the Mizoram-Assam border issue and said that development of the surrounding border areas was vital and should be prioritised.

He also urged the Home Secretaries to look into the conferment of Mizoram State Police officers into the All India Service, as the procedure seemed to be taking longer than expected.
