Kidnapped drivers rescued in Manipur

The rescued truck drivers were handed over to the OC-Tousem Police Station after proper medical examination for taking further necessary action.

Imphal: Two truck drivers who were kidnapped by unknown miscreants were rescued on Friday by Manipur Police and troops.

Police said it received a report that two drivers of two Tata Trucks which were carrying FCI food grains were kidnapped by some unknown armed militant group from New Kaiphundai village area under Tousem Sub-Division, Tamenglong District on Thursday.

Manipur Police started an operation to rescue the two persons along with personnel of 39 Assam Rifles.

The two drivers were rescued from the New Kaiphundai area by a team of Manipur Police without any harm. The suspected militants fled away taking advantage of the thick jungle and difficult terrain it was added.

The rescued truck drivers were handed over to the OC-Tousem Police Station after proper medical examination for taking further necessary action.
