Khelo India Samvaad to be held in Senapati on August 27

Senapati: In view of the forthcoming “Khelo India Samvaad” programme to be held on the occasion of National Sports Day 2026, the District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, Senapati, organised a press conference today at the MY Bharat Office, Old DC Office, Senapati.

Addressing the media, Rev. Fr. (Dr.) K. O. Sebastian, Principal, Don Bosco College, Maram, said that Khelo India Samvaad will be observed on 27th August 2026 by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) under the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on the occasion of National Sports Day. He stated that National Sports Day is observed every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand and is aligned with the vision of building a fit, disciplined and sporting nation, with youth placed at the centre of the nation’s development agenda.

He highlighted that the local segment of the programme will comprise a moderated discussion with a local sportsperson, addresses by public representatives and a Yuva Samvaad session to hear the ideas, perspectives and aspirations of young people. The programme will provide a platform for youth to interact with sportspersons, public representatives and other distinguished personalities and engage in discussions on transforming India’s sports ecosystem.

He further stated that the programme seeks to provide youth with a nationwide platform to understand the national vision for sports, fitness and youth-led nation building, while creating a structured mechanism to capture their perspectives on sports, talent development, governance and Viksit Bharat. It will also reinforce the vision of a youth-led sporting movement, including India’s aspiration to host the 2036 Olympic Games, he added.

P. Rebecca Rangnamei, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, Senapati, informed that the programme is scheduled for 27th August 2026 and will be conducted simultaneously at Don Bosco College, Maram, with two sessions, and Asufii Christian Institute, Mao Punanamei, with one session. A major highlight of the programme will be the virtual address of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, which will be viewed by participants in Senapati district. Similar programmes will be conducted at additional venues across different districts of Manipur and throughout the country.

The District Youth Officer further informed that the programme will facilitate MY Bharat registration, digital submission of suggestions through the MY Bharat Suggestions Box, and promotion of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2027 Quiz.

She invited the youth of Senapati to participate in the programme at either Don Bosco College, Maram, or Asufii Christian Institute, Mao Punanamei, and make use of the opportunity to share their ideas and perspectives on sports and nation-building.

John Britto, NSS Programme Officer, Don Bosco College, Maram, highlighted various activities and initiatives aimed at strengthening youth engagement in sports and nation-building. He emphasised the importance of providing young people with meaningful platforms to contribute their ideas towards building a stronger, more vibrant and inclusive sporting ecosystem in the country.
