Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu along with BJYM national president Tejasvi Surya and other local leaders on Friday celebrated India’s ‘Vaccine Century’ at his hometown Tawang, a day after the country attained the historic milestone of administering 100 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses to its citizens.

The Chief Minister celebrated the momentous occasion by felicitating the ‘Covid Warriors’ amid chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai!’ in a function at the Khandro Drowa Sangmo District Hospital at Tawang.

He along with Surya also lit Buddhist religious candles as a mark of appreciation to all healthcare workers in the fight against COVID-19.

Khandu said the country achieved the feat under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra

Modi. “Under his (Modi’s) leadership India has achieved what other developed countries can only imagine,” he asserted.

“So proud to celebrate India’s #VaccineCentury! The moment was befittingly celebrated today at Tawang with felicitation to our #CovidWarriors & with the chant of #BharatMataKiJai! Every

contribution mattered & was made possible under the able leadership of PM @narendramodi Ji”, Khandu tweeted.

Earlier, taking to Twitter, the young BJP MP from Bangalore South Tejasvi Surya, who arrived at Tawang on Thursday, wrote: “Marked the #VaccineCentury in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh today with dynamic CM Sri @PemaKhanduBJP. Sri Pema Ji is strengthening public health infrastructure in every district of AP. Under his leadership, even most remotest corners of state was successfully vaccinated.”

Among others, Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi was present on the occasion.

The country’s 100-crore Covid-19 vaccination milestone was also celebrated at Naharlagun today

by the District Health Society, Itanagar Capital Complex.

Gracing the occasion, Itanagar Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom released 100 helium balloons in the air and felicitated 56 Covid warriors comprising doctors, nurses and paramedics with ‘certificates of appreciation’ to mark the achievement of 100-crore Covid-19 vaccination in India.
