Imphal: After being closed for almost one year due to Covid-19, Manipur’s historic Kangla Fort reopened for the public from Wednesday.
Kangla Fort has been closed for visitors amid the rise in COVID-19 cases in the state since November 2020.
“Kangla shall reopen to visitors including morning/evening walks w.e.f 6th October (Wednesday) 2021. However, the visitors shall observe SOP/Guidelines of Covid-19 from time to time,” said a statement issued by the Office of the Kangla Board, here on Tuesday.
Kangla Fort, located in the heart of Imphal, is the ancient capital of the Kangleipak (Manipur) Kingdom and holds a symbol of pride and glory of the state.
As on October 5, 2021, Manipur has recorded 1,21,303 total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases, in which 1,17,708 persons have recovered while another 1,724 remain as active cases.
With three more deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours, the toll in Manipur has risen to 1,871.
