Kakching district announces closure of all unregistered rehab centres

Unregistered de-addiction centres which are being closed, then the said centres shall immediately inform the family members of the patients to get them transferred to other registered centres located in Kakching district.

Imphal: The district administration, Kakching district, Manipur Thursday announced closure of all unregistered de-addiction centres with immediate effect.

Taking cue from the earlier announcement by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur, Rohit Anand, District Magistrate, Kakching district, in a statement, said that all the unregistered de-addiction centres operating in the district will cease to function immediately.

The statement further noted that if there is any client/patient undergoing treatment in such 

Unregistered de-addiction centres which are being closed shall immediately inform the family members of the patients to get them transferred to other registered centres located in the Kakching district.

The administration also informed there are three currently registered centres – Healing Point, Maching Manao Hills, Kakching (IRCA); Phidam, Machin Manao Hills, Kakching (IRCA) and Better Living, Rehabilitation Centre for Substance Abuse Behavioural Addiction, Sora, Ching Wangma Kakching (private de addiction centre) in the district.

Earlier, the Department of Social Welfare informed that all the non-funded de-addiction/rehabilitation centres should be mandatorily registered with the Government of Manipur as per the provisions given under Para 5.1 of Guidelines of setting up of Treatment and Rehabilitation of Users for Social Transformation (TRUST) Centre notified in the Manipur Gazette (Extraordinary) No. 285 dated 6th September, 2022.

It also noted that all the private de-addiction centres, which are not registered (including those centres whose application for registration has been rejected by the Department) under the said Guidelines shall cease to function after 3 months from the date of issue of the notification.
