Juvenile accused of rape granted bail in Tripura

Agartala: The Juvenile Justice Court in South Tripura Saturday granted bail to a 13-year-old boy who arrested on the charge of raping three and half years old girl from his neighbour in Belonia of South Tripura after a detailed hearing of the case.
Police arrested the boy after the girl’s family registered a complaint with Belonia police station alleging that the accused had been a regular visitor of the victim family in the same vicinity on March 17 last when she was alone at home the boy forced himself on her. The victim’s mother found her ill at night and on the query, she divulged the incident.
Based on the complaint police picked up the boy from the house in the morning and produced him before the court charging him under Section 376 of IPC and 6 of the POCSO Act. The accused admitted his crime and sought mercy for the misdeed. Considering the age of the boy and other circumstances, the court granted him bail and directed police to finish the investigation quickly.
A week ago in the same locality of Belonia, a 76–year old man was held for raping a nine-year-old.
