Imphal: In two separate joint operations on January 30, 31, 2024, a large cache of weapons, ammunition and war-like stores were recovered from two different areas in Churachandpur.
Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of arms and ammunition in Thoroilok village, in Churachandpur district, Assam Rifles, Border Security Force and Manipur Police, launched a cordon and search operation on January 30, 2024, and recovered one 9mm Pistol, one Pt 303 Rifle, one 12mm Bore gun, one improvised Mortar and war like stores.
On January 31, 24, in an intelligence-based operation, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered a huge cache of arms, explosives and war-like stores near Songpi Village, Churachandpur district and recovered two 9mm Carbine Machine guns, one Shotgun, one Point 22 Automatic Rifle, one 9mm Pistol, nine Single Barrel Rifles, two Improvised Mortars, ammunition and war like stores.
The recovered weapons and war-like stores have been promptly handed over to Manipur Police, according to a press note from the PRO, IGAR(S).
