Srinagar: A J&K Police DSP-rank officer has been arrested on corruption charges on Thursday.
Official sources said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sheikh Adil Mushtaq was arrested during investigation of a case which was registered in police station Nowgam Srinagar. The officer’s house was also searched on Tuesday.
They said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a Superintendent of Police, south Srinagar has been formed to probe the high profile case.
In early March, DSP Adil was attached to the office of Special DG Crime amid allegations of professional misconduct.
Adil was presently posted as DSP Indian Reserve Police (IRP)-17 battalion.
There is no official statement on the arrest of Adil.
