Jiribam: In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare facilities in Jiribam district, Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Krishna Kumar today opened two specialized outlets of Jan Aushadhi Kendras under the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) and made functional at the OPD and Casualty Ward of District Hospital Jiribam, Ningshingkhul, Jiribam District.

Alongside the opening of Aushadhi outlets, an ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) ID generation camp was also launched for outpatients.

Highlighting the significance of Jan Aushadhis kendras, DC, Krishna Kumar said that the Jan Aushadhi Kendras were opened with the objective of providing high-quality generic medicines and surgical items at highly affordable rates, often 50% to 90% lower than branded medicines.

The initiative would greatly benefit the patients by ensuring access to affordable healthcare and essential medicines approved by NABL laboratories while maintaining safety, quality and efficacy standards, he added.

He further highlighted that these Kendras will particularly support patients suffering from chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular ailments, and cancer by reducing the financial burden of long-term treatment.

During the programme, awareness was also created on the importance of ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

It may be mentioned that ABHA is a unique 14-digit digital health ID that enables citizens to securely store, access and share their health records digitally across healthcare facilities in India. The system helps patients maintain medical records such as prescriptions, laboratory reports, discharge summaries, vaccination details and medical history in a secure digital format.

Additionally, ABHA will help simplify hospital registration processes, reduce paperwork, shortened waiting time and support telemedicine and online consultations. With the consent of patients, doctors and healthcare providers can access previous medical records for better and faster treatment.

The initiative is expected to particularly benefit people in rural and remote areas by improving access to digital healthcare services while supporting the vision of Digital India and connected healthcare systems across the country.

People can create ABHA IDs free of cost using Aadhaar card, driving licence, or mobile number through government health portals, hospitals and healthcare applications.

The opening of Jan Aushadhi Kendras and the launch of the ABHA ID generation camp mark another important milestone toward affordable and digitally connected healthcare services in Jiribam district.

The launching programme was attended by L. Tarajeet Singh, MCS, SDO Jiribam; Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba, MCS, Assistant Commissioner to DC Jiribam; Abujam Romen Singh, MCS, SDO/BDO Borobekra, along with health officials and staff members of CHC.
