Imphal: Describing Jananeta Hijam Irabot as the architect of modern Manipur, Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo Singh Thursday appealed to the people of the state to embrace his path and ideals and said the present generation should never forget or diminish his priceless contribution and sacrifice for our society.
The Minister stated this while participating in a programme to celebrate the 126th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Loitang Leikinthabi in Imphal West district.
Dingo said Jananeta Irabot always stood for all communities, castes, creeds and religions.

The Minister also recalled that it was the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s BJP-led government in 1998 that released a commemorative postage stamp in honour of this venerated Manipuri leader.

This, Dingo said, shows that the BJP government always works for every community, not for any particular community and doesn’t believe in narrow politics that divide our society.
Not just the cleaning campaign on his birth anniversary, Dingo also underscored the importance of competition in different fields, either in education or in any discipline amongst our student communities to ignite a fire within. This will go a long way in development of our society, he added.

As a part of the celebration, the Minister also distributed prizes to different students who cleared class X and different competitive examinations.
