Jan Aushadhi Mitra Sammelan held at JNIMS

Dr Ranjan Sapam, advisor to CM (Health),  said that Friday’s function was organised in connection with the weeklong celebration of National Unity week to commemorate the birth anniversary of Iron man of India, Sardar Vallabhai Patel. Janaushadhi medicines are affordable and quality products. Imphal: As part of the celebration of National Unity Week, Jan Aushadhi Mitra Sammelan was held at OPD Block, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical  Sciences, Porompat, Imphal today.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Dr Ranjan Sapam, advisor to CM (Health),  said that Friday’s function was organised in connection with the weeklong celebration of National Unity week to commemorate the birth anniversary of Iron man of India, Sardar Vallabhai Patel. Janaushadhi medicines are affordable and quality products. Many people have benefited from the medicines.

He further stated that the state government is considering the health and wellness of the people as a priority. Chief Minister has launched various health care schemes such as, Chief Minister gi Hakshel gi Tengbang (CMHT) which is effectively functional. Under the central government, PMJY scheme for those under socio-economic caste census is also implemented successfully on health-related matters.

With the initiative of the chief minister, with commitment, a public-oriented and centric ‘Chief Minister’s Health for all’ scheme was also launched recently which is very ambitious. He stated that Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi was launched with the objective of making quality generic medicines available at affordable prices to all. Under the scheme, dedicated outlets known as Janaushadhi Kendras are opened to provide generic medicines at affordable prices.

In his Presidential speech, L Susindro Meitei, MLA & chairman, Lotak Development Authority & MSPDCL said that the availability of affordable medicine to the general public is a very good scheme. If the physicians could prescribe medicine available under Janausidhi, it will benefit more marginalized and underprivileged families. Janausidhi pharmacy opened at JNIMS was benefitted many people especially in Imphal East district. He felt necessary to open Janausidhi pharmacy at RIMS complex too and he had a discussion with RIMS Director, informed Susindro.

As part of the function, H Balkrisna Singh, Director (IPR/Fishery) who graced the function as Guest of honour said that the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabha Patel, October 31 was observed as National Unity Day across the country. He spoke about the roles and contributions of Sardar Vallabha Patel for political integration. The world’s tallest statue, Sardar Vallabhai Patel statue with a height of 182 metres (597 feet) was erected in Gujarat, on the Narmada River. He opined to open more Janausidhi pharmacies in remote areas for the benefit of poor and marginalized families.

During the function, some people who have used Aushadhi medicines share their experiences and gift were presented to Aushadhi Mitras by the dignitaries.

Director, JNIMS, Dr Laishram Deben Singh, and Medical Superintendent, JNIMS Dr Kh. Lokeshwar Singh, also attended as the function as guests of honour.
