Itanagar: In a shocking incident, a personnel of 2nd India Reserve Battalion (IRB) allegedly killed a colleague with his service AK rifle on Friday night.
The accused IRB personnel has been identified as Wangru Taidong and he was currently camped at Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh.
The injured constable, Chingri Mamai, was immediately evacuated to the TRIHMS hospital at Naharlagun. However, he was declared brought dead by the doctor, police said.
Police said a case has been registered at Doimukh police station and the alleged accused was arrested. The weapon of offence, an AK-47 rifle, two empty cases and 28 live rounds have been recovered from the place of occurrence.
The dead body has been sent to the Itanagar-based RK Mission Hospital for conducting the inquest and PME, police sources added.
Remarkably, both the accused and the deceased hailed from Changlang district.
