International Women’s Day observation at Senapati

District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Senapati, LD Chasiiro, in her address stated that the International Women’s Day is being celebrated all over the country under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao slogan to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls.

Senapati: The District Administration and ICDS Cell of Senapati in collaboration with the NYK, Senapati observed the International Women’s Day on Monday. An Open Choir Competition was also held at the Multi-Purpose Hall today under the theme “Choose the Challenge” as part of the observance.

Additional District Magistrate, Senapati, A Adahrii Maheo, in his speech as the chief guest of the function stated that the empowerment of women must begin with the self and then comes family and society. He also stated that various programmes and schemes have been formulated for the upliftment of women. Recalling his school days, he said that the girls are often awarded the best-disciplined student in the class and did better in academics than the boys. He also said that many avenues have opened with the modern education system. Adahrii Maheo appealed the members present not to deprive the dream of a girl child. He also applauded the women of Senapati for their outstanding contribution in the field of education and sports in the district.

As part of the observance, 9 choirs participated in the Open Choir Competition in which Poumai Baptist Church, Pouvapai took the first position followed by Emesiiphro Women Society in the second position and Kavanam Baptist Church in the third position. Besides, 42 girls received a certificate of appreciation and cash reward for their excellent achievement in the field of education and sports. The programme was attended DLO’s, CSO’s, Student and their parents and churches leader.
