Jakarta: Indonesian President Joko Widodo awarded an honor to FIFA President Gianni Infantino here on Friday morning, before the FIFA U-17 World Cup opens at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.
In a ceremony held in the State Palace in Central Jakarta, the award given to Infantino was part of the commemoration of the country’s Heroes Day.
Widodo initially wanted to present the award to Infantino during the country’s Independence Day in August, however the latter was not able to attend at that time.
The tournament takes place from November 10 to December 2 with Indonesia facing Ecuador in the opener.
The venues are Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, the Jakarta International Stadium in Jakarta, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, West Java and Manahan Stadium in Surakarta, Central Java.
