Jakarta: The Indonesian government said on Friday that it has successfully evacuated four Indonesians and one relative of an Indonesian national from the conflict-stricken zone in the Gaza Strip.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi told a press conference that they were evacuated on Wednesday local time and were now in safe condition in the Indonesian Embassy in Egypt.

The evacuees were residents of northern Gaza, she said.

“The evacuation process for four Indonesian citizens and one Indonesian citizen’s wife was not an easy thing. Once again, it’s not easy,” said Marsudi.
The ministry said earlier that there were 10 Indonesian nationals living in the Gaza Strip, and it had been struggling to evacuate them still trapped in the conflict zone.
