Indian Army felicitates sportspersons in Manipur

The ceremony was held in commemoration of International Women's Day being observed on 8 March every year.

Kohima: The Indian Army Wednesday honoured 11 outstanding sports personnel of Manipur who excelled in the Asian, National, Junior National and Zonal Games, in a simple ceremony held at Phubala, Bishnupur district.

The ceremony was held in commemoration of International Women’s Day being observed on 8 March every year.

These individuals excelled in various sports disciplines like Football, Hockey, Rowing, Weightlifting, and Sepak Takraw bringing pride to their community, state of Manipur and India. 

The sportsmen are T. Reenu Devi and M. Prinja Devi (Hockey), P Umeshwari and W.Sapna Devi (Weight Lifting), T. Priya Devi (Rowing), Ayekpam Meipak Devi, Khoirom Daina Devi, Tongbram Monalisa Devi, Khaidem Gaitri Devi (Sepak Takaraw), Alex Laishra and M Chalawba Singh (Football).

Despite the prevailing challenges in the state,  the dedication and discipline of these sportsmen have propelled them to excellence, inspiring youth across the state.

This recognition aims to instil pride and determination, fostering healthy competition and national unity. Strengthening ties between the Army and the community, the initiative promotes camaraderie and support, urging young talents to strive for greatness and represent India globally.
