Imphal: Assam Rifles continued its series of high-spirited patriotic rallies, youth engagement activities, physical fitness events, environmental initiatives and cleanliness drives across remote villages in Kamjong, Tengnoupal and Churachandpur districts of Manipur on 12 and 13 August 2026. The wide-ranging programs were conducted as part of nationwide celebrations leading up to the 80th Independence Day, while simultaneously commemorating 150 years of Vande Mataram and advancing the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
In Kamjong district, patriotic fervor swept through remote Indo-Myanmar border communities with dedicated commemorative events. At Phaikoh village on 13 August 2026, Assam Rifles conducted a Tiranga distribution and flag dignity awareness drive, followed by an energetic Tiranga Run in which school children and local residents carried the National Flag while raising patriotic slogans. On the same day at Good Shepherd School in Kasom Khullen, 240 students and 20 teachers joined Assam Rifles personnel for a Vande Mataram recitation and Tiranga Rally led by the senior official of Hungbei COB. Further reinforcing national integration along the border, a patriotic awareness session was conducted at Aishi village on 13 August 2026 to inspire youth on the values of unity, harmony and responsible citizenship.
Youth empowerment and sportsmanship took center stage in Tengnoupal district. Assam Rifles located at Tengnoupal conducted on 12 August 2026 a Tiranga Run which witnessed active participation from a crowd of approximately 160, culminating in vibrant cultural performances by local students and a special Vande Mataram display by the Assam Rifles Pipe Band. On 13 August 2026, the ‘Run Moreh Run’ marathon brought together nearly 500 participants, including local residents, Assam Rifles personnel and Border Security Force personnel. Running from New KLP to the ICP Complex in Moreh despite persistent rainfall, participants displayed exemplary endurance before enjoying a cultural program by Jehovah Jireh (JJ) Homes students and a Pipe Band recital. Top five runners across Under-10, Under-18, Girls, Above-18 and Serving Soldiers categories were awarded medals and certificates. In another initiative on 13 August 2026, Assam Rifles hosted a motivational movie screening for 55 students and 3 teachers at Sita Village High School in Tengnoupal district, fostering values of courage, perseverance and dedication.
Demonstrating commitment towards environmental stewardship and civic hygiene in Churachandpur district, Assam Rifles conducted a mass tree plantation drive across Aina, Veng, Khuga, Singhat and Churachandpur on 12 and 13 August 2026 under the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative. 50 Assam Rifles personnel and 20 local students planted 500 saplings to enhance green cover and encourage environmental care among youth. Complementing this effort, a Clean Village Drive was organized at Aina village on 13 August 2026 by COB Aina, bringing together 15 Assam Rifles personnel and 17 villagers to clean public spaces and roadsides. These people-centric initiatives reinforced the enduring bond between the security forces and border communities while instilling deep pride in the nation.
