New Delhi: India recorded 62,480 fresh infections of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the overall cases to 2,97,62,793, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.
Besides, the country also saw 1,587 deaths, the lowest since April 18 this year, pushing the total number of fatalities to 3,83,490. The death toll stands at 1.29 per cent. On April 18, the country saw 1,501 COVID-related deaths.
A total of 88,977 patients recuperated during the past 24 hours, pushing the number of recoveries to 2,85,80,647. With these new recoveries, recovery rate jumped from 95.93 per cent to 96.03 per cent.
Now, active caseload further declined to 7,98,656, less than eight lakh after 73 days, shows the data.
Meanwhile, weekly positivity rate is currently pegged at 3.80 per cent.
Daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.24 per cent, less than five per cent for the 11th consecutive day, the Ministry added.
So far, the country has carried out more than 38.71 crore tests.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 38,7167,696 tests have been conducted, of which 19,29,476 were carried out in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 26,89,60,399 doses have been administered since January 16 this year, of which 32,59,003 were administered in the past 24 hours.
On Thursday, India reported 67,208 cases and 2,330 deaths.
