India Post releases Special Cover in honour of Arunachal unsung heroes

Itanagar: As a part of the nationwide celebration of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and National Postal Week-2021, the Department of Posts, North East Circle, Arunachal Pradesh Division on Wednesday released three Special Covers to commemorate the unsung freedom fighters of the state, namely , late Matmur Jamoh, late Moji Riba and late Moje Riba, an official source said.

The special cover of late Matmur Jamoh was released by his great-grandson, Matmur Jamoh, at a small function at his memorial at Yagrung village in the East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

State System Administrator, Department of Posts, Arunachal Pradesh, Kabit Taki, speaking on the occasion informed that these Special Covers are being released in order to remember and honour the unsung heroes of Arunachal Pradesh for their sacrifices during the freedom struggle against the British.

He further informed that these covers will be displayed in the National Philatelic Museum in New Delhi, Philatelic Bureaus throughout the country and even abroad.

The other two Special Covers in honour of late Moji Riba and late Moje Riba were released in a separate function held simultaneously at Dari village in Leparada district on Wednesday, the source added.
