Imphal: As part of the State Government’s continuing efforts to restore peace and normalcy, public transport services on the Imphal–Dimapur–Guwahati route resumed today, marking a significant development after a gap of nearly three years since the unprecedented crisis in the State.

A total of 125 passengers travelled on the route, in two buses and five wingers.

The resumption of this service is an important step towards restoring normal life and strengthening connectivity. It has been widely appreciated by the public, with people welcoming the restoration of this crucial inter-State link.

One of the travellers, Kiyam Kumarjit Singh from Thoubal district, expressed his thankfulness to the State Government for this positive initiative. He added that this new journey should usher in love, peace, and harmony among all communities in the State, and help people move beyond what had happened in the past. “Let us all forgive and forget the past,” he added.

Nivedita from Khundrakpam village in Imphal East district said that may this journey bring peace in the State and God bless the government. The buses have already crossed Kangpokpi (a Kuki inhabited district) and Senapati (a Naga inhabited district). The buses will then enter Nagaland en-route to Guwahati, Assam.

It may be mentioned that during his last visit to Kangpokpi district on 8th August 2026, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, along with Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen and Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen, had announced the reopening of National Highways for free movement of all communities and that the Imphal–Dimapur-Guwahati bus service would be resumed soon.
