Hit horror flick ‘Chhorii’ to get a scarier sequel

Mumbai: After the success of the Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer horror film “Chhorii”, the makers have announced a sequel, tentatively titled “Chhorii 2”.

Nushrratt announced the sequel on social media.

“It’s your love and encouragement that’s bringing us back!

Ecstatic to share with you that the world of Chhorii will get a new edition in 2022. #Chhorii2”.

Helmed by Vishal Furia and bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, Jack Davis, Shikhaa Sharma and Shiv Chanana, the film is a remake of the Marathi-language film “Lapachhapi” (2017).

The film also features Mita Vashisht, Rajesh Jais and Saurabh Goyal.

The official handle of the T-series film dropped a teaser poster confirming the second instalment. The caption read, “Fear will return with #Chhorii2.”

The film is slated for a 2023 release.

“Chhorii 2” is also set to be another successful outing between T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment following films like “Airlift” (2016), “Sherni” (2021) and “Chhorii” (2021).

The producers in a joint statement said: “The critical acclaim and fan love that Chhorii has received is a testament to our belief that the Indian audience has a strong appetite for high-quality scary content and we hope to continue serving them with more exciting and unique stories…We hope to take Chhorii 2 a notch higher and make it scarier than the first edition.”

Apart from the horror franchise, Nushrratt is also busy with “Ram Setu”, which stars Akshay Kumar and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles.
